1 in 1600 Project
Artist Statement
For my 1 in 1600 project I decided to focus on two of my favorite things, music and my garden. It was super fun trying to have the nature complement the instrument. The shiny golden color of the brass mixed with the greens of the plants is a very nice pallet. I chose to shoot on a cloudy day because I personally prefer cloudy rainy days. I like how it make all the colors look softer and not as sharp and gives everything a calmer feeling. The hardest part of the photos was finding the locations. I really wanted to keep all of them in the yard and on the same day. Some of the instruments like the ukulele cant stand by themselves. But I liked the challenge, and it pushed me to use things like the cow skull in a creative way.
Still Life
The Old soul Portrait Project
This is my Dad (except the picture of me). He is an amazing person who has inspired me all my life. That's why I chose him for my portrait project. I also choose him because he hates getting his picture taken, but loves taking pictures. I asked him to give me some tips and tricks and he responded with "here let me show you". The picture of me is a photo he took, trying to give me his idea of a portrait. The picture after is me trying to replicate it. The rest are of my dad "in his natural habitats". I called this project the old soul because that is what he is. He enjoys the simple things in life. The picture of him with the disc golf is right after he got and "ace" or hole in one. The pure joy on his face when we watched the chains clatter couldn't be emulated properly, but we got close. Along with disc golf he enjoys many other things in the out doors, and art. Dont have an explination for the eyebrow, but maybe its better that way.
